New Gallery

I've added a new photo gallery to the media section. It's got some stuff that Oliver Ward and Tom Smith sent to me. If you've got anything you want in there, send it over.

Spreading the News

If you get the Caught in the Crossfire newsletter, you might have seen these. Locals getting busy in Wales...

Missing Ramps

I heard at Epic skatepark that they are planning to build a climbing wall or something. It looks like this will be eating into the area with the jump boxes and this will be scaled down. When I was there the other day the vert wall and first jump box had been removed. Looks like there is more stuff for skaters though, a monsterous flat bank, ledge, step creation at the other end of the park.

Press Releases

All corporate now...sprinkled with a couple of photos of Dylan Clayton.

Bike Show

Tickets cost £14 in advance or £16 on the door and can be booked on 0870 145 2244 or on the website.

"The new venue will allow the show to grow both in size and depth – particularly with the added bonus of one million square metres of outdoor space providing visitors the opportunity to see the bikes in the environment they’re built for.

“Feedback has been incredibly positive,” says Ayesha Daly, Event Presenter of The Bike Show 2005. “Stoneleigh Park offers us a lot more options, with two great exhibition halls, a specialist building for some of the features, and the utilisation of outdoor space. It’s an exciting move for the bike industry.”

New and current sponsors/exhibitors will benefit from the show now occupying two main indoor halls plus a dedicated building for the 4X racing, MTB dirt jumping and BMX – a hugely popular feature at The Bike Show that attracts world-class athletes competing in a purpose built arena.

The Bike Show will also be accommodating a new show; KING OF STREET, purchased by Haymarket from Board X three years ago. King of Street will incorporate the Bike Show contests in BMX, and as one of the best competitions in the country will attract the top professionals from all over the world. The Elite Cup – Britain’s richest circuit race for road bikes returns in 2005 and will be longer, faster and more competitive than 2004.

Brands confirmed at the show include Commencal, Global, Goodridge, Haro, Hope Technology, Identiti, Intense, Longstaff Cycles, Michelin, Odyssey, Pace Cycles, Profile Racing, Redline BMX, Santa Cruz, Scott USA, Split Second Imports, Thorn Cycles, Titus, Tomac, Volo, and many more.

Outdoor features are still in development but ideas are being focused on creating outdoor trails, racetracks and testing areas for participating brands across all bike genres.”

Epic Tag Team Bowl

I went up to the tage team bowl comp at Epic on Saturday which turned out pretty good once it got going. It definately wasn't being taken super seriously, so it was quite fun to watch. I think the win went to team Hennon / Manuel and co who were going massive and second place to the Bristol Big Guns, Craig Stevens, Colum Walsh and Marlboro Pete with a dope 540 icepick. Ben Manuel also took the £100 for the highest fakie on the vert wall, with a front wheel clean out the top.

Homer, fakie powered by 'Merrie England'.

Colum above and Craig below, photos by media ferret Graeme Hardie.

Speaking of 'Country Casuals' Graeme, congratulations on the engagement!

Would you marry this man! There must be something in the air or is it a MoVment thing, because Kye Forte and Steve Murray are also doing the right thing. Congratulations to you too.

Sounds like Toby Forte and Jess are having a good time down under, riding concrete parks, backyard trails, getting sunburnt and wine picking...wine, woman, song!

Park Central
It looks like after all the closing down, new buyer shenanigans, the park has actually closed for good. Adi spoke to them yesterday so knows the score, I think he put some news on the TWOAND8 website.

Stolen Bike

This pic was taken 2mins before the bike was no more

Nicked Pantera closeup
I was out riding yesterday in the Wandsorth area with a few of the wannie massive we were having a good time riding a few of their local spots some curved walls a kinked legde and some cool banks. We headed off to this small youth club run ashphelt racetrack that i'd ridden a couple of years back and found the gate open. We went in androde for about 5 - 10 minutes and then the youth workers came over to move us on cos kids wee gonna be turning up soon. We chatted to them about the forthcoming "skatepark" that may get dropped there then got on our way when it looked as though the other youthworkers turned up with a bunch of youffs. This place has a largish fence round it now and a small gate which we ququed to get through the bunch of youths did'nt seem in too mch of a hurry to get in so nick started to get throgh the gate when one of them said off, off the bike so nick withoust saying a thing turned around but they all grabbed at his bike and started pullung it through his legs punching him in the back as they did so. I grabed his crossbar and tried to pull it back inside the gate but one of them finched me and another tried to get my bike too so i backed away and they ripped the bike away from nick and were off on it before i had a chance to stash my bike and chase them down. The youth workers were great and tried their best to calm us all down. They let us come inside their youthclub and play pool whilst Nick was out with the useless local Buzys looking for and estate they'd never heard of. We left once they took all our details and desciptions of the 5 Knobs that robbed Nick of his pride and joy and i gave him a backie back to his place.
If you see this bike or any other decent bike under the arse of an unlikely, in the Wandswoth area give em a smack and get it back cos nick'll be well gratefull and i'm sure if you can return it there'll be some kind of rewarad for your bravery, or stupidity if it was you who took it in the first place. Its a new baby blue pantera (but i'm sure its halfords black by now)with intergrated headset, with a profile chrome rear hub with hubguard on sun bigcity and gsport homer front etc etc. You can see what it looks like in the closeup below. Its such a shame, Nicks a good rider and he's gonna be bikeless for a while untill he can sort out another. These things seem to be happening more and more frequently when are out on street rides, and all i can say is keep our eye's open and be constantly asessing any situation you might be walking into while your out and about. Rider Owned

A couple more rider owned ventures...

As mentioned before Gav who used to work at the Bike Shop in Derby, now has his own shop running in the Derby Storm Skatepark. The shop is called Mode and is totally independant from the park. The mail order and web side of things are still to be setup but the shop is open for a browse. Times are a bit strange but they are open from 5 till 10 weekday evenings and 10am till 7pm weekends. Beats normal shop hours.

Also Dylan Clayton has started his own mail order venture, Firm Bikes. There's an ad in the latest Ride magazine.

Good luck to all.

New (&old) Street Furniture

I got me my own digi camera, so i've put up a few more street furniture items i bumped into in and around London. If anyone's knows of any interesting spots (which i'm sure you do) or fancys coming out to session some of the stuff on here and more drop us an email impgysm@hotmail.com and we can meet up. Park Central

Looks like it might not be all doom and gloom for Bristol's premier indoor park. From what I've heard a buyer has been found, a locals parents are going to buy and run the park...

Worcester
Lee all so tells me he was down Worcester the other day and the changes Eggy has been making at the outdoor park are looking good, roll on the summer.
