Motion Update

Called by Motion skatepark the other day to check on progress. Quite a bit more has been done since the photos from last week. Shown is the view of the park from the viewing area, the outside area, front cafe/bar, rear bar and toilets, which if you hadn't seen the old ones, are a massive improvement. Should all be good for the winter.

25th Anniversary Jam

THE ETNIES BACKYARD JAM, BRIGHTON

24 August 2005 - Brighton will host one of Europe’s most prestigious BMX competitions as the Etnies Backyard Jam (EBYJ) hits the Brighton Centre from 21 – 23 October 2005, ready with a 375 m2 purpose built street course, retail area and Snickers public street course.

Now in its 12th year the Etnies Backyard Jam is coming back bigger and better, with riders confirmed from Etnies, Federal and Hoffman bikes including Jamie Bestwick, Morgan Wade, Taj Mihelich, Mike Escamilla, Ruben Alcantara, Mike Atiken, Van Homan, Corey Martinez, Bas Keep, Jon Taylor and Sergio Layos to mention but a few. With such a line up and the relaxed atmosphere the EBYJ is famous for, riders will be pushing themselves in the face of a record prize pool of $40,000 overall.

Friday will see 100 Experts battle it out in heated qualifiers for the honourable 10 finalist spots in Saturday’s Expert final. Following that, 60 Pros will take to the street course for their qualifiers on Saturday, the top 16 of which will come back on Sunday for the highly regarded Pro Final for some fearless bad-ass action.

If that was not enough, the Etnies Highest Air and the Snickers Best Trick contests on Saturday and Sunday respectively will provide constant action for the crowd, following Friday’s world record attempt, as Snickers presents the UK’s first Highest Bunny Hop contest.

This year more BMX enthusiasts can experience this world class event as the Brighton Centre offers tiered seating to 3,000 spectators. There is a separate public street course strip for four persons at time to experience BMXing for themselves. All equipment and guidance is provided and Pro riders including Jon Taylor will intermittently be on hand to offer personal advice. In previous years the event has sold out quickly so log on to www.backyardjam.com today to book your tickets and get the latest updates.

The Etnies Backyard Jam in association with Snickers and Primo will be held at the Brighton Centre 21 – 23 October 2005. Opening times: 10 am - 7 pm. Ticket prices pre booked / on the door: Fri £6 / £8, Sat £8 / £10 and Sun £10 / £12. Please Note: There is no access with bikes for the public into the venue.

Ravens

Stuart, Sam and a few others have gotten back on the case with the building of some trails not too far from me that arelooking pretty god and the plot that they're on has some serious potential (?) forsome crazy lines. Sam who's been riding chizzy trails whilst he's been away from London has got the teckniuque (i cant spell today just too tired to even try you know what i'm on about anyway) for building and it helps that the dirt is absolutely perfect for building with no stones. So it looks like stjoes is gonna go to shit and i'm gonna get into these silly steep jumps, oh and the hip is about 7ft tall!. I'm sure you'll see more pics of these as soon as i get time off work to muster up enough energy to dig and ride there. laters

I've read the whole thing now and if by any chance people don't think we'd make it that far i'm gonna steal the van and get there cos that sounds like a good event, in a country (or is it just Lisbon) that has leagalized all drugs.

Mosh Earphones

I've taken a long hard look at those earphones, checked the specs etc... And have come to the conclusion that no matter how good (or shit) they are, most English riders would be fucked if they were to wear something so shit! The word we use in the UK is 'CHAV' It's not a good thing to aspire to be one.
A few years back I'd have recommended Mosh make them in pink. These days you might want to consider green or the old safe bet - black.
I've recently heard Sennheiser are considering entering the BMX market with a cassette hub that sounds like a barrel organ.
I really hope I'm missing the point.

iPod dumb shit!

My good lady recently bought me an iPod for my birthday; The technophobe I am had serious trouble getting the little thing to do anything (cheers dog). Anyhow there I am looking at the apple shop for some bits and bobs when I find the below comment from someone who´s more retarded than me when it comes to technology. I was searching for an iPod car charger!

"Those of us who are middle of the road when it comes to understanding iPod technology would not realise that this only charges via a 12V connection, ie, car cigarette lighter. Although still useful, if you're looking for something that connects to the mains, this isn't the right product"

The description was for an iPod auto charger including a picture of said article. Now I don´t like bragging but I consider myself to have seen a bit of the world, but I´m fucked if I´ve been anywhere where they use car cigarette lighter accessories as the main power plug! I can´t help wonder whether he was thought he was being helpful or was just a fucking idiot. Either way he´s put a major dent in the intelligence of people who use iPods.
I would have placed a picture of the charger for you all to see but cause I´m a donkey I couldn´t figure how to do it.

Redbull 3 Degrees

Redditch Skatepark

I'd heard they were modifying the quarter to quarter wall ride at the park the other weekend, as I was nearby I dropped in a got a quick photo. I think there are also a few other mods in the pipeline such as a curved wallride and a new jump box with transitioned landing. http://www.redditchskatepark.co.uk
