Indoor BMX Racing

it was a pretty cool day, after not getting much sleep i wasnt really in anymood to ride or take photos. so sorry for the half assed pictures above. it was amazing to see simon tabron ride, that guy is dialled. the comp its self was cool. at one point it was a big race to see who could get to the 1/4 flat bank at the end of the skatepark first, which was a shame. it seemed that we were the only people apart from the locals who made any effort to go there. this didnt spoil the day it just meant that they had all there lines down.

the set up is good there and if you are in the area well worth a look in, hot dogs are 85p so you cant go wrong.

Newquay via porthtowan to mount hawke

well that is what we did a few weeks ago. it was a real good trip, myself mike and Ben drove down to Newquay on the Saturday and met Tom who owns Motion and some other Bristol locals and Perry from Wellington. the plan was to go down to on the Saturday morning and meet them at Newquay then off to Mount Hawke on the Sunday for there jam. The drive down was pretty cool. Although we did see a pretty harsh accident. if Ben was on time we would have been caught in it. So cheers Wook for being late!!!
We arrived at Newquay, it was the first time I had been there, the park was really good I didn’t ride much. So much for a "unofficial jam" there was no such thing, worse thing was the locals didn’t seem to no much about it either! at one point there was around 20 people there so I suppose you could say it was a bit like a jam. Mike did 100 foofs and kept the locals happy, they got there camera phones out and everything. The rest of the Motion coalition went swimming, myself Mike, Ben and Colum stayed at the skate park.
Later on in the day Anthony Pearson and his friends turned up. They were staying in Newquay for a few days. It was awesome to watch him ride, tailwhip to nosepick to in well he nearly did it.

the Motion bus left and we stayed at the skate park for another hour. we met in a car park near the train station and played a good game of football.
myself Wookey, Mike, Colum and b.v. went on in to Newquay to sample the night life. Newquay was pretty busy, we went to a few pubs.
I think the best thing I saw all weekend and sorry for no photo was seeing b.v. and colum pinch a cauldron from a pub that will re-main nameless. I do think it was the funniest thing I have ever seen on a night out. it was massive. so when you are next at Motion I am sure it will be on show somewhere….
We then drove on to Porthtowan beach and stayed there for the night. I will post the Mount Hawke stuff up later in the weak……

Easter treats

Dunno what Marvs up to but There's Jenkins fighting the wind manualing the long ledge in the background

Ritch or Rich, neither looks right to me, nor did this gap but Rich gunned it and hung his peg up 1st try then did it again before the 4ft thugs got him

He's going into that narrow ramp with the rails either side

Matt chinking! out of a curved wall

Alex grinding sideways

Streetin

I tweaked my wrist so there are some riding pics of sorts cos i did'nt ride. The one of Rich's gap doe'snt do it justice but thats what you get when your paranoid of 12 year old white rudeboys jacking you for your last 20p.

Pub Theft

Happy Easter, This weekend was wicked i will do a full update later on in the weak.

I went to the British super bike round at Thruxston today. i had just got my press pass and i got my tabbard, a shirt that says "Media" on, i crossed the pit lane trying to get a idea of the lay out. i steped over this small foot high ish barrier and slamed my camera straight to the floor. its totaly ritten off and my lens is pretty buggard to. it went straight on to the side of the camera body and pretty much shatterd. if you looked at it from a far it doesnt look to bad. but all the electronics have gone on it. its cracked all over the shop and is well, FUCKED. i guess the insurance was worth it. but seeing as i havnt had a chance to get my lens insured yet i may be looking at a heavy repair fee.

Taking place on Friday 9th June SNICKERS UK Friday will see the best established British skate and BMX athletes ride the SNICKERS BOWL. The size of an Olympic swimming pool but twice as deep the SNICKERS BOWL was previously open to invited international pros only.

British riders and the next generation of UK talent will come together as thirteen skaters and thirteen riders compete in this invitation only jam. The top three of both disciplines will win prize money and the first place position of each will win a wild card into the pro comp over the weekend, battling with some of the world’s top skaters and BMXers, including Rune Glifberg, Renton Millar and Koji Kraft. The skate side of things will also be judged by ‘godfather’ of skate and star of cult documentary ‘Dogtown and the Z-boys’ - Tony Alva.

Redditch Stuff

Got a load of info from Steve Rooke about various goings on at Redditch:

"Update on Redditch loads going down. We should be open sometime next week for 2006 as I have only just received funding to get the park open again. we should be doing a lot of maintenance work over the next few weeks clearing up and fixing vandalism as usual. for this season we have a new jump box with street course alterations to suit and micro ramp. I'll send you some pics in the near future.

If you remember a while back we said we want to develop the Redditch Wheels Project further concrete park and indoor well it looks like things are going to start moving on that with the additional bonus of a BMX race track and trails, which is looking like the first stage of development and moving along very quickly thanks to it being in the next Olympics n youth and community sport development and all that. Because of this funding for this sort of thing is available. Benn Thombs is heading the project along with about 12 others including, Scott Beaumont, Jai Kemp BMX racing coach n old Worcester local, Si Patten (AKA Jester) who got Bearwood together and now of Decent World.co.uk fame and old school race stars Tim Print and Gary O' Connor who's mom n dad ran Supertune BMX shop in Studley in the early eighties. The initial idea was presented to the council leisure director and manager who are now behind it 100%. A new BMX club Redditch Premiers in honour of the old BMX club and track has been formed.

This won't all happen overnight but it seems to have the same enthusiasm as when we were first campaigning for the skatepark, also there seems to be a lot of support from the BMX race community as there is no facilities for this in the midlands. The overall aim is to include floodlights, club house, gym, mini BMX museum, fence to keep out minimotos and joy riders."

Graeme Hardie Photography

Been slacking on the updates lately, so a call was made work placement trainee, Graeme Hardie. Here is his work from Saturday at Oxford...
