Backyard Qualifierr in Brizzle

More press release stuff...

"NEXT EVENT - Bristol Qualifier Sunday 27th August 2006

First things first....

The preparation and interest in the Bristol Qualifier at Motion Skate park which is this Sunday is hotting up.We already have a decent number of pre registered riders, the youngest of whom is just 10 years old! There is going to be a big screen playing BMX DVD's all day and Tom at Motion has said loads more riders have been in contact to say they will be registering on the day. If the last two events are anything to go by then Bristol is going to be the place to be this Sunday. Sod Reading and Leeds, who wants to be in a muddy field when you can be riding in a nice dry skate park with your mates?

There are going to be prizes galore for the top 5 under 14s and the top 10 over 14s and as I am sure you already know the only way you can enter TheEtnies Backyard Jam in Sheffield is to qualify. So what are you waiting for?

If you want to beat the queues and guarantee yourself a place for a measly £10 entry fee, then call 0845 310 3660 or visit the Backyard Jam Website to download the forms. Please be aware that we can not except Visa Electron and we will only be able to take cash payments on the day.

Don't forget if you wanna bring your bike and you don't wish to enter the qualifying rounds; you can ride the park all day for £10, however, you can not ride the competing area while the qualifiers are running. There will also be spectators tickets being sold on the door for just £5 so you can come down to support the riders. Doors are 10.30am 6pm - See you Sunday!

Directions to Motion

Well well well we thought we weren't the type to jump on the band wagon but it looked so inviting.... The lure of new friends in this era of social paranoia was too much to take and so we did it.... We are not proud of it but we did it anyway. So keep it to yourself but we are on.... yes you guessed it.... Myspace.

You can now find pics, videos, news, BMX games for work dodging and polls. What's more you may even get yourself some new riding mates or at the very least some jokers to fill up your friends page and help make you look popular!

We are also doing something new for the Bristol Qualifier.... If you capture some footage of your mates riding and send it in tomyspace@seventies.co.ukthen we will put the best clips onto the page and people will be able to rate your clips. The best rated clip will win some stuff."

"THE BMX ELITE SPIN INTO SHEFFIELD FOR THE LEGENDARY ETNIES BACKYARD JAM

August 2006 – Sheffield, home to some of the UK’s most talented riders, hosts one of Europe’s most prestigious BMX competitions as the etnies Backyard Jam 2006 (EBYJ) turns ICE Sheffield into a BMX Mecca on 27th – 29th October 2006. Complete with a street course expertly crafted by Nate Wessell of X Games notoriety, a retail area and more international stars than the World Cup!, the EBYJ is certainly one event NOT to miss this year.

With riders from teams such as etnies, SNICKERS ® and Primo including Ben Hennon (UK), Morgan Wade (US, X Games 2006 Street Silver Medalist), Josh Stricker (US), Aaron Ross (US), Bas Keep (UK), Taj Mihelich (US), Ali Whitton (UK), Gary Young (US), Max Vincent (CAN), Chase Hawk (US) and Matt Beringer (US), to name just a few.

Friday, the opening day of the event, will see 60 Experts battle it out in heated qualifiers for the honourable 16 finalist spots in Saturday’s Expert final. Following that, a record 100 Pros take to the course, for their qualifiers, the top 16 of which will come back on Sunday for the prestigious Pro Final and some fearless action.

If that was not enough, the SNICKERS ® Bunny Hop, etnies Highest Air and the SNICKERS ® Best Trick contests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively, will definitely hype the crowd to a frenzy and push the excitement through the roof.

In previous years the event has sold out quickly so log on to www.backyardjam.com or call 0845 310 3660 to book your tickets and get the latest news. The etnies Backyard Jam in association with SNICKERS ® and Primo is at ICE Sheffield 27 – 29 October 2006. Opening times: 11am to 7pm for the public and 10am to 7pm for the riders. No access with bikes for the public."

Madera hubs

I've been flowed some of Profile's new sister parts that go under the name of Madera. The cranks and seatclamp are already on my bike and running good. Here are some pics of the dexter hub which has a kind of wavy internal collar that can be removed that has the ramps that the pawls engage in on the inside so it can be removed and flipped over, so that when you reverse the pawls in the hubshell you have a lefthand drive hub. Nice!. I'll be flipping it over depending on which side i feel like grinding on any given day. Also the new Madera front hub which i think is pretty much like a profile mini without the detailing in the centre of the hubshell, it may be a tad lighter than the mini too i'm not sure, but its pretty damm light and comes with the usuall extremley high grade bolts that come with the mini hubs and black anodising. I'll have some pics of my bike up when i build these little beautys up.

London's calling

Getting gnarly

Smells like Autumn

Holidays are confusing, when the sun is out fun is easy, games are serious buisness and now the heats dissipated premeturely the rush is on to use it before the winter gathering begins. I've already made pear crumble, soon the apples'll be down too. Londons calling at the end of the month so southbank flyouts gonna be rammjamm with a carnival atmosphere. Creteing to be done at the roundabout soon, Billy's been on it allready i understand?. New London based sites on thier way. Marvs one, "Nangtown" sounds to be pretty extensive loads of contribution from various london riders interviews! n such dunno when thats coming but soon i guess and, the new Lifecycle site built by Steve wo'nt be too long either i think and should have loads of lesser spotted London riders contribuitions. I can ride my bike now and i have new parts going on it as we speak courtsey of Profile and Madera (pics soon). I have no phone...email me

some more pictures from NASS06

August 9th

the above photo was taken in sherbourne. the skate park there is alright a long 1/4 at one end a pretty big jump box with a drive way on one side and a long low volcanoe with a 1/4 1/4 gap. this photo is a bit dark sorry! check the kid in the background. the photo isnt timed very well either. head over to bmxonline to check some footage of the x games.

some more pictures from tiverton and shepton. i still have loads of pictures to sort through.

New Photography Blog

I've put together a new photography blog HERE, which contains anything that doesn't really fit into the current site. Also all the photos site contributor, Brad, has blogged are now in there own gallery HERE

Animated Sequences

I pinched it

i pinched this poster off kris from chelts myspace. just a bit more coverage for a jam that they are having at the pitville skatepark.

Deaner

Shepton

we rode shepton today.

relentless

we rode exeter skatepark yesterday. we were greated by 2 skallys who were chucking stella bottles everywhere and giving us shit. cheers boys (Y)

they then pinched this lads football.

mike did ice pick over on a steap grass bank. we then left there because it was way to windy and none of us could really be assed to ride. we went back to tiverton because there is alright skatepark there. we went the wrong way and ended up on the bmx track. it was fun to ride around a track again. going fast and manualing jumps.

we got word of this old skatepark in tiverton near the track we headed down and saw the most ghetto spine i have EVER seen. scott ice picked it then foofed it then jumped it! and mike did ice over on it. it was amazing. it has been there for 30 odd years and accourding to one of the locals only a skateer has gone over it before. their was this local rat who tryed to backflip it yesterday but he fell off and isnt going to try it again. his dad was there tho so apprently its true.... i love it. i love it when you meet the little kids who always say stuff that is so not true.

dirty sanchez

work sucks really. i mean its pretty cool when its not busy but selling cameras to people gets boaring. repeting yourself etc.....

anyway i was pretty suprised when prichard and dainton walked in from dirty sanchez. they are skateing from cardiff to newquay for cancer research. they should have got there buy now. pretty rad.

they stoped off in my home town of burnham on sea and skated with the locals there which was pretty cool.

are skatepark is undergoing some changes well when i say changes i new design is getting put tougther and it looks like some stuff is going to get added to the lame set up that is there at the moment. so fingures crossed it will be ok.

NASS06

it really wasnt what i expected. the nass course was dreadful. it would have been good for a public park but not to hold a comp on.

apart from that the riding i saw was awesome. ben walace 360 tap to downside whip on the braun spine mini. mark webb did doublewhip to tap to ice pick to roll back whip. i also saw him do a doublewhip 360 over the spine as well. it was awesome to see.

the lg games were good. louie went down real hard in practice and had to get taken to hospital which sucked. apart from that the riding was amazing.

oh yea and cheers for source bmx for sorting us out they have LOADS of orchid shoes to get rid of so head over to there site.

chelt then stratford

rode cheltnham and stratford other day. stratford is a cool park with a weird vibe.
