Wondering

There's a few things I think about and quite often question. I doubt many would consider my thoughts perfectly normal, but for me it's just a daily process I have to go through when I wish to sleep - This process usually takes fucking ages!
For instance, what drives someone to do something for the first time. I'm not talking about a new gap or link, no something much deeper than that. Like what was someone thinking when they first looked at a cow, focused in on the bovines teats and considered pulling them to enable themselves and their family to have a tasty white drink. Who discovered that rubbing sticks together could produce fire? What if it didn't though. What if some poor bastard spent their entire life rubbing sticks together and produced nothing.
I'd not considered this one though until I saw it. I now want to know who did this first and why, why, why?
Why?

Too much ambition is poision

Hello my minions, all hail and grovel at the feet of the almighty soothsayer Shepard. I'm going a little stir crazy and i like it, give me a noose and a tall tree and i'll fish for thee my prettys.
Madera has a site that i could'nt find for along time so here it is. Matt says i'm in the new issue of Cream riding a jersey barrier in my shorts. I cant think for the life of me when this would have been, answers on a postcard tweedles. And/or tell me where i can find Cream in the uk
, not in you're pants although i'll never grow tired of those kinda emails you sick monkey fuckers.
The bike show has another noteworthy episode interviewing female cycle couriers working in London, and a ride with some guy along the sewage outflow pipe from hackney to north woolwich etc and has a few words of wisdom to share along the way. They also have a plea for donations to resonance as they're in a cash crisis kinda situation and will have to end all their wonderfull work. Including the bike show if they don't raise enough to keep them going. Since Resonance is a completely non commercial radio station it relys on these kinda donations to keep them afloat so if you've got a spare few sqiudders send em their way.
I've put some more images on my blog thing so you see the cartoon version of myself on the left that kinda makes me jump at little everytime i look at this thing, well click on it as it says and takes you there if you feel that way inclined, like a good old regression session, descending into the festering bowels of bipedal billy goat bile.
I hope you all had a wondrous officailly most depressing day.
Ahh whats this shit Bloggerbot is dead! i cant put pictures up on ere then.

Bits and Bobs

In a lame attempt to get some content on here and push to the milestone of a 1000 blogs on here (about 10 to go), here is some stuff that's loosely related to BMX.

The sites current photo record holder, Colum Walshe, who will be paying up £50 if he goes the whole year without a beer, is featuring in the Daily Politics Show tomorrow. They filmed and interview on Saturday, which will be edited with some live footage from Motion, so go heckle. If you miss the show it's available to view online.

Nik Ford dropped me a line to mention he broke his fibia bone at the recent Epic Bowl Jam. Get well soon, hopefully the jam will be covered in next months Ride magazine. Here is Nick about two seconds before doing a barspin out of the pegstall and breaking his bone.

Politics

The legend that is Graeme Hardie is alive and well and dropped by on Saturday, managing to catch a couple of bands at the Junction.

Cunts

Its 2007 boys live O, LIVE O

News years eve was a Crack up, literally. Cocaine is the bain of my generation and a few previous and a whole many more to come i'm sure, and Crack well that shits pure geez, so its fine yeah?. Toke my tyre after having to stop at the lights by the federalis station it'll fuck you up good n proper. Today i saw a Rasta sniffing glue at the exact same spot i crashed at trying to check out Cartier Kinskys arse almost 7 days to the minute, previously. I dont think that way of getting high is part of their religion. She looks a lot hotter in real life and i could swaer she recognised me but, tv is no 2 way mirror right?. Thats what watching neighbours 2wice a day for one week solid will do to you. Mark who's photo's, myspace page and style43 article i've posted on here in the recent past has had to have stitches in his bumhole from an unfortunate accident with a trendy seat. So if you think taking the padding off your macniel seat and putting a bit of selotape on its a good idea think about rectal stitching and how cool that'll look on the internet. Mark if you have pictures of your sphincter stitches get em posted, haha. Actually i dont think its actually his bumHOLE that had to get stitched butt it could easily be. Or worse?, like the guy at the 2&8 jam a few years back who tore his nutsack open and dropped one on the floor in the huge pool of blood he'd made for himself. Saftey first Crack smoking later.
Well rather than linking my blog spot every time i put some new stuff on there, Kung has kindly put a link to it in the sidebar as you may have noticed. I have put a few new pics on there spots, feathered things, inanimate objects and whatnot so click my foolish self there if you dare you less hairy care bear arse tear, fuck yeah boyeee.

Life's Unfortunates.

"What's the worst that could happen?" I used to ask myself this just prior to doing most things. If I could answer a possible 'Yes' to the questions "Could I get banged up" or "will it really hurt" I'd usually then give it a little more consideration. If the answers no, then what's to stop you?

A few years back I received a call from a friend suggesting I sit down before continuing the conversation. It wasn't the type of phone call you ever want to hear but due to life's unfortunates it's bound to pop up every once in while - doesn't make it any easier though.

Ask most riders "what's the worst that could happen", I guess a large number may consider it to be their bike getting nicked. Up until last Thursday night I'd managed to go through life avoiding this consequence, that was until I left my bike just inside the entrance to the park whilst I went just outside the entrance to get my tool box from the car. I turned to go back inside when I saw someone just casually riding away on what looked like my bike. I shouted and gave chase but couldn't catch up and only had a vague idea of the direction he was heading.
At this point it pretty much felt as the world had just fell out of my heart. I felt sick, lost, without any idea of what to do next. Do I continue running, get in my car and drive aimlessly around the labyrinth of Birminghams inner city.
I wandered back into the park and told Keith that someone had just nicked my fucking bike, He asked "when", I replied "just". He just ran from behind the counter told me to get in his car. I explained the direction I saw my bike last heading, then we were off without giving to much thought to the rush hour traffic. I learned during the journey that people from this area usually head in one of two directions. The first road we head down yields nothing so we double back and take a side road. After a few hundred meters I spot someone rolling casually on a BMX, unable to see whether it's mine I suggest Keith drives along at his current speed. As soon as I see that it's mine I tell him to drive on at the same speed and carry on past.
As soon as we're past the bloke on my bike I jump out the moving car and gently persuade the guy that it might be in his interest to hand it back. I was shocked to discover he put up no resistance and explained that he hadn't actually knicked it but was merely borrowing it so he could find his own stolen bike! Crack Heads. Brummies are regarded as being quite thick but find a Brummie Crack Head and you're into a whole new sub level when it comes intelligence.

The entire episode took about 10 minutes max, when I rode back into the park no one could believe what had just happened.

It got me thinking though what would have happened if I hadn't involved Keith. I wouldn't have known where to head. And if we never found my bike then what? How bad in the grand scheme would it have been. Everything on my bike is replaceable, so with a bit of effort it could have been replaced, in the meantime I'm lucky to be in a position where friends would have also helped out and helped me build something temporary.

I guess the moral I learned is that only few things in life are irreplaceable - Family, Friends and Health, providing you're willing to compromise and accept change pretty much everything else can be replaced. Except some mix tapes which were knicked from my car some time ago but that's another story...

My deepest and sincerest thanks go to Keith at Epic. Without whom I'd be sat here contacting everyone I know to see what I could scavenge and feeling pretty depressed about doing so. Hope the leg gets better soon.

Time bandits

One day we'll all have one of these, maybe(pic stolen from the take site and then cropped). People are making small chainrings and drivers. Profile has tested thier 8t srivers and apparently they're fine and have been shifting them already. Matt's been updating the us site regularly almost everyday with info on what the team are up to and the videos seem to be changing pretty regularly too. There's a madera ad on there currently with a whole lot of Dave Mc dermott's shenanigans. And apparently the new Dexter hubs are being tested right now by some of the us team for a hammering.
