BMX has been around in Redditch since 1980 where it is said UK BMX officially began with the first UK BMX track being built and then following legendary events such as the Anglo American Cup in the early eighties, featuring BMX legends such as Stu Thompson Greg Hill and Harry Leary (See history section). Things have moved on since those days at the same spot as the old racetrack now stands our almighty Redditch Skatepark, partly a result of that golden era of BMX. This year we are going to celebrate being around for 25 years and BMX in general with a fun jam on a newly refurbished park. Were still waiting for the cheque to arrive for the new ramps but as soon as it does we will commencee work as soon as poss, We have recently altered the flat bank on the wall ride so it now goes strait up to the wall (thanks Ben, Chris, Adam n crew). Should be loads of goodies to give away too. We're looking for some of the people who used to race at Redditch between 1980 - 1984 as we are having an old skool theme n display board and any one could email some old photos of the track back in the day we would be most gratefull. Sponsors so far (more to come ) include Ride BMX magazine, Odyssey and Snickers who are providing £350 best trick prize money. All pretty loose and see what happens on the day. there will be DJ's and live music from local bands.
