Matchborough Centre Bus Shelter Project

This community project was the brainchild of Councillor Juliet Brunner, The Matchborough Youth Forum, Arrow Vale High School, the Police and Peter Hill of the Councils Antisocial Behaviour team.

The project gave local young people a chance to celebrate all what is good and important to them in Matchborough, the estate where the Skatepark is located, visually by designing a mural for the two bus stops in Matchborough centre. Its a great honor as if you look closely that they have included a BMX bike and Skateboarders all in a detailed backdrop of the skatepark where you can see the wall ride, the jump box and the pyramid.

Even it may be assumed bus shelters are prone to vandalism, its made of very tough stuff and they have replacement graphics on hand just in case.

The new bus stops were opened by the Rt Hon Jacqui Smith Home secretary and our MP on 16th May 08.

Please do have a look if you are about in this area. This really is showing young people in positive light in the area. I would like to personally thank everyone involved for including the Skatepark as it makes our efforts all the more worthwhile know that what we do at the skatepark is appreciated.
