Pig?… Bore off

Manor house trails

Will and George

Dirt Bowl

Where is the rain? Bone dry down at the woods, new stuff is riding well, just too dry to finish the trails lines. Bowl is good fun, Chris Morris with a few airs.

etiquette

As the days get longer, sun is out and the ground is dry, the urge to ride some trails becomes stronger. If you know where this place is, then you’ve either spent most weekends down there digging over the past winter, been down before, done some riding and helped chip in with shifting some dirt or you’ve heard about / seen it and fancy having a ride. If the last ones the case, do yourself a favour and say hello to whoever is down there, offer to help do some digging (there’s loads still to do) and treat it how you would like your labour of love to be treated. Cheers, Digmore locals.

Switchback

Digging solidly almost everyday most of the winter and trying to ride, work on bikes, and whatever else has been pretty hard on my body. But i keep going.

I have developed a twinge just above my left shoulder blade. Apart from that i manage to stretch most achey pains out, and if that does’nt work, breathing exercises really help.

Although, last week my lower back was begining to feel the strain from digging the new berm section that is the start of the big line at our spot.

I realized that it made more sense to shovel switch handed in the anti clockwise berm.

Its definitely helped with the back thing, and my left forearm is begging to get used to lifting the weight of the dirt.

My right hand is much more swollen compared to the left.

I still cant break ground too well with the cutting spade switch handed but i think shovelings enough for now.

Try it out. It might mean you’d beable to dig for longer if you switch it up a bit.

Remember to stretch.

Obligatory trails in snow photo

Couldn’t resist the opportunity for some classic snow covered trails shots. We’re also posting on Homers new trails focused blog, Build The Woods.

then and now

its snowing, breaking ground means layers, muscle and a pickaxe tomorrow.

Digmore digging jam

Some photos from the digging jam George organised last Sunday. About 20 people turned up, a load got done on the bowl, plenty on the main trails line and the first berm was rebuilt.

another one down on the tally

Yeah its 2009.My mum put up a collage of embarrasing old family photo’s for the christmas period. Here’s me on my old putch with a sweet presstuded crosbrace pad and some great shorts. Somethings never change.

I had an awesome new years starting with the new pa/catty woods dvd coming through the letter box. I watched about 10 minutes of it and had to go riding in the 2 degree weather on the frozen jumps but no one was on it so we started drinking a bit too early, watching the vid 4 or so times whilst bouncing around town. Definitely got the party started. It came with a note that makes it sound like buying it was a charitable act but far from it. Proper party soundtrack, summer fun, a dedicated crew of people making incredible things out of mud and a zipline, all filmed  with love. POV

I woke up in an unfamiliar living room wrapped in one of their curtains and a huge hole burnt out of my beard then rode some private ply at dusk, still real drunk, on a borrowed bike. Cheers Halls.

Here’s a little vid i made wasting no footage of a daytrip i made with Al, Belcher, Ted ,and Juliet out to dagenham racetrack. 2hours there and back for 45 mins there in wind and 3degC. Pooped.

The jumps are coming along nicely. New recruits and new lines popping up.

Although the grrounds a bit hard right now.

Trench Warfare

Yup more from this spot, since im here more often than not.  Flickr

Ive been digging ditches for two days straight because oiks on motorbikes have started tearing it all up. I cant think what else to do apart from to become a human scarecow again but i cant do that on my own agin all winter, it’ll make me a sourpuss. Where are you lot?. Quit parting any free time you’ve got and lap up the winter light while its around. Any newcomers are welcome to help me out, Timmy?. I know you got Ravens to deal with but i’ll help out there too, put in a big line?. Liam from stn… anyone else come on man up, you’ll be loving it when you know you’ve had a part in it all when theyre running again.  Let me know

Protect ya noggin Jam pt1

3rd time lucky and Toby’s jam came good. Weather was sketchy on the Saturday but a good old Newton Abbot drinking session made up for that and the jam was extended over till Sunday. There is a write up by Toby on the Ride site and some more antics on the Segment site.

Pump Track / Trails

The last time I popped down to this spot it was pretty wet but has progress loads since. The pump track section looks fun and the trails are coming on nicely around the edge of it. Chief digger, George, had a small birthday gathering down there over the weekend.
